With the arrest of three terrorists belonging to banned Indian Mujahideen, Delhi Police today claimed to have solved Pune blast in August and also averted terror strikes in the national capital and Bihar during upcoming festive season.

At a press conference, Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar termed the arrest of Asad Khan (33), Imran Khan (31) and Syed Feroze (38) as a major breakthrough and claimed that their plans to carry out strikes in Delhi and a temple in Bihar's Bodhgaya during the Dusehra and Diwali festivals have been foiled.

Asad, who is a recruiter, motivator and ideologue of the IM, and Imran were arrested on September 26 from their hideout in Pul Prehladpur in south Delhi while Firoze (38) was apprehended from Nizamuddin Railway station five days later.

The Commissioner said that during the interrogation of Syed Zabiuddin alias Abu Jundal, one of the main accused in 26/11, leads had surfaced that some of the terror groups of Indian Mujahideen were planning to carry out more attacks.

Jundal also claimed during interrogation that one of the founders of Indian Mujahideen terror group, Fayaz Kaghzi, a resident of Beed in Maharashtra, was coordinating the terror strikes from a West Asian country.

Bangalore: The interrogation of the 11 terror suspects with Lashkar-e-Toiba and HuJI links, who were arrested on Thursday from Bangalore and Hubli, has revealed that apart from politicians and journalists, the Kaiga nuclear plant and important naval installations were also on their radar.

A student from Hyderabad was also picked up today in connection with the same probe.

According to a DNA report, the terror module was aiming to target the Seabird naval base in Karwar.

It has also come to light that most of the instructions and directions to the module members were being given from handlers based in Saudi Arabia via Skype – Internet based telephony – to avoid coming under the scanner of intelligence agencies.

Tunnel from Pak for major induction into India
IANS Jammu, August 09, 2012

A long underground tunnel dug from Pakistan into Jammu and Kashmir was meant to push a large body of people into India and not small groups of infiltrators, say experts.
Military experts who have been studying the still to be completed tunnel also admitted it was the Border Security Force's (BSF) failure not to have stumbled upon it.The tunnel, once completed, could have been used as a permanent induction route for a large body of people and not just to send small groups of militants to India, a senior official said.

"The size of the tunnel suggests it was to be used as an induction route for large scale manpower," the official told IANS on the condition of anonymity.

These experts said the tunnel was not meant for people to come crawling.Big groups could walk bending themselves all through the tunnel, which had even oxygen pipes. They said it must have taken the Pakistanis a long time to dig such a tunnel, which was discovered when a Kashmiri farmer reported on July 28 that a piece of land in his field was mysteriously sinking.Geological experts found the tunnel's end just 15 metres from the point where it was discovered. According to police officials, the tunnel is about 500 metres long, which is the same distance as Pakistan's Lambryal post opposite to where the tunnel was discovered. The tunnel's discovery was made near the Indian border post at Chilyari in Samba district, about 55km southwest of Jammu.

The experts said the purpose behind planning a large scale induction from Pakistan could only be to create a sudden warlike situation or cutting off areas of strategic importance without notice.
They said the Jammu-Pathankot highway is about 15 km from the place where the tunnel was discovered.
This highway could be targeted to cut off Jammu and Kashmir from the rest of the country.
This would amount to creating a Kargil like situation when the national highway was targeted initially in a bid to cut off the region from the rest of India to obstruct military supplies.

"This is a serious matter which has to be taken very seriously. We are concerned about such a thing," said a senior officer."It (tunnel) is a well-planned and well-coordinated work by Pakistan aimed at inflicting major strikes at India."The experts noted that Pakistan chose a flat plain and an otherwise peaceful region to dig the tunnel so that the digging would go unnoticed. And this is what happened.
"It is an intelligence failure and negligence on the part of BSF," one officer said.

London Olympics Terror Threat: Raid Near Olympic Stadium, Police Arrest 6

By RAPHAEL SATTER 07/05/12 12:53 PM ET huttingtonpost.com

LONDON — British police used smoke grenades and a stun gun in an early-morning swoop Thursday on a home close to London's Olympic Park, as six terror suspects were rounded up in a series of raids across the city.

Officers said the five men and one woman were detained following an operation to monitor their activities and insisted their alleged plans to stage attacks had no link to London's upcoming Summer Games, which begin on July 27.

Police didn't identify the suspects, who range in age from 18 to 30. However, Mizanur Rahman, who is involved with a Muslim activist group, said all those arrested were British Muslims.

Three of the men were detained in Newham, the London borough which contains the Olympic Park. Officers said a 24-year-old suspect was hit by a Taser gun during his arrest, but did not require hospital treatment.

Rahman said the three men were brothers.

Scotland Yard confirmed it had previously employed one of the men as a community support officer, a law enforcement worker who patrols the streets but does not have powers of arrest. The department said he had served between 2007 and 2009, when he resigned, and had not been involved in any sensitive work.

Resident John Smallshaw said a raid took place at a residence on Abbey Road, only about a mile (1.6 kilometers) from the Olympic Park. He told The Associated Press he was awoken just after 4 a.m. by "five loud bangs in quick succession" and saw police raiding the home. He said he later witnessed "one young man taken on foot to a waiting ambulance."

Another man was later taken into an unmarked police car, Smallshaw said, adding that plainclothes officers were still at the premises.

Three other suspects, including a 30-year-old woman, were detained in the Ealing neighborhood of west London, police said.

MI5 chief talks threats before Olympics

Last Updated: Tuesday, June 26, 2012, 09:10

London: Britain has seen a credible terrorist attack plot about once a year since the September11 attacks, a worrying pattern as security officials brace for an array of threats ahead of next month`s summer Olympics, the head of the country`s domestic spy agency says.

Although Britain`s threat level is a notch below what it has been for much of the past decade, it is still at substantial. The level means an attack is a strong possibility.

"Our assessment is that Britain has experienced a credible terrorist attack plot about once a year since 9/11," MI5`s Director General Jonathan Evans said in prepared remarks ahead of a rare public speech yesterday to the Lord Mayor`s annual defense and security lecture in London.

"The (Olympic) games present an attractive target for our enemies and they will be at the center of the world`s attention in a month or so," he said. "But the games are not an easy target, and the fact that we have disrupted multiple terrorist plots here and abroad in recent years demonstrates that the UK as a whole is not an easy target for terrorism."
